UPSON COUNTY SHERIFF DAN KILGORE SAYS A CATASTROPHIC LIGHTNING STRIKE FRIDAY AFTERNOON AROUND 4;30PM KNOCKED OUT 911 SERVICE UNTIL AROUND 10;30PM AND REQUIRED 911 TO BE RE-ROUTED THROUGH THE PIKE COUNTY SYSTEM. THE SO COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS AFFECTED, INCLUDING THE JAIL AND WARRANT DATA.

THE SHERIFF THANKED PIKE SO , I.T. DIRECTOR ROBERT HANEY , HIS CREW , AND EQUIPMENT VENDORS FOR GETTING THE SYSTEMS UP AND RUNNING AGAIN. THE SHERIFF SAID THERE IS DAMAGE TO THE OFFICE SERVER AND OTHER EQUIPMENT THAT MUST BE REPLACED.
THE LIGHTNING STRIKE CAME-IN ON THE ANTENNA AT THE S.O. , THE SHERIFF REPORTED.
