POST 26 GA. STATE PATROL IN THOMASTON HAS RELEASED THE REPORT ON A FATAL ACCIDENT ON 74 WEST MONDAY EVENING THAT RESULTED IN THE DEATH OF 27-YEAR OLD KARA LEIFERMAN SHIRAH OF 57 CLAY STREET, THOMASTON. THE ALLEGED AT-FAULT DRIVER , 69 YEAR OLD SUSAN SCHUBER FORD OF WARM SPRINGS , IN A 2014 BUICK ENCLAVE, TOLD FIRST RESPONDERS SHE WENT TO SLEEP AT THE WHEEL AND TROOPER LOREN THOMKA SAID SHE CROSSED THE CENTER LINE AND CAUSED A HEAD-ON COLLISION . THE EAST BOUND SHIRAH VEHICLE, A 2023 KIA SPORAGE WAS DRIVEN BY MS. SHIRAH'S HUSBAND TANNER SHIRAH, AGE 28, AND TANNER SHIRAH AND THEIR BABY DAUGHTER, NOVA SHIRAH WERE INJURED AND TRANSPORTED TO THE E.R. AT UPSON REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER. THE GSP REPORT SAID MS. SHIRAH WAS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT , WAS 13 WEEKS PREGNANT , AND DIED OF HER INJURIES LATER AT URMC.
MS. FORD WAS TRANSPORTED TO MACON MEDICAL CENTER BY AMERI PRO EMS.
TROOPER THOMKA ADDED THAT CHARGES ARE PENDING AND THE GSP SKIRT TEAM WILL INVESTIGATE THE CRASH.
