VALDOSTA HIGH FINED BY GHSA

A STORY WE FIRST BROKE ON FUN 101 FM REMAINS A NATIONAL STORY ON ESPN. THE THOMASTON BASED GEORGIA HIGH SCHOOL ASSOCIATION HAS LEVIED A $7500 FINE AGAINST VALDOSTA HIGH SCHOOL, ORDERED THE TEAM TO FORFIT 7 WINS FROM THE 2020 FOOTBLL SEASON, BANNED THE TEAM FROM THE PLAY-OFFS IN 2021, AND DECLARED AT LEAST TWO PLAYERS INELIGIBLE NEXT SEASON.

GHSA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DR. ROBIN HINES CONFIRMED THE SANCTIONS ON ESPN, TUESDAY MORNING. VALDOSTA HIGH SCHOOL HAS FILED AN APPEAL.

THE GHSA PROBE WAS BASED ON COMMENTS MADE BY VALDOSTA HEAD COACH RUSH PROPST ON A SECRETLY RECORDED CONVERSATION WITH THE EX-DIRECTOR OF THE TOUCHDOWN CLUB ASKING FOR WHAT HE CALLED "FUNNY" MONEY TO PAY PLAYERS. FUN 101 FM WAS THE FIRST MEDIA OUTLET TO OBTAIN A COPY OF THE TAPE. COACH PROPST WAS PLACED ON ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE LAST MONTH
