TWO STRUCTURE FIRES IN UPSON CO.

ROCK HILL AND YATESVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENTS RESPONDED TO A HOUSE IN FLAMES AT 59 JOHNSON STREET, THE RESIDENCE OF CAROLYN TEAL.

MS. TEAL TOLD UPSON S.O. SHE WAS WATCHING TV AND HEARD A LOUD BANG IN THE BACK OF THE HOUSE CHECKED AND FOUND A BACK ROOM ON FIRE. A FREEZER WAS HOUSED IN THAT AREA. THE BOOM COULD HAVE BEEN FROM AEROSOL CANS IN THE ROOM.

YATESVILLE FIRE CHIEF BILLY LEE SAID THE CAUSE IS UNDETERMINED.

THE ROCK HILL DEPARTMENT DISPATCHED TO ANOTHER STRUCTURE FIRE AT 110 JOHN HUTCHERSON DRIVE, A STORAGE SHED ON FIRE. CALVIN PENNYMAN SAID HE BOUGHT SOME ITEMS AT AN ESTATE SALE AND PLACED THEM IN THE SHED, AND THEY MIGHT HAVE CONTAINED CHEMICALS THAT CAUGHT FIRE.
