AMRIS BEDFORD PASSED AWAY

AT TUESDAY NIGHT'S MEETING OF THE THOMASTON CITY COUNCIL MAYOR J.D. STALLINGS REQUESTED PRAYER FOR THE FAMILY OF FORMER COUNCILMAN GARY BEDFORD WHOSE GRANDDAUGHTER AMRIS BEDFORD PASSED AWAY TUESDAY AFTER A LONG BATTLE WITH CANCER. 

AMRIS, DAUGHTER OF MARLEE AND ROSS BEDFORD OF BLACKSHEAR, GA. WOULD HAVE BEEN ELEVEN YEARS OLD, NEXT MONDAY.

GARY TOLD 101 NEWS WEDNESDAY, ARMIS WAS DIAGNOSED WHEN SHE WAS TWO AND UNDERWENT TREATMENT AT ST. JUDE'S HOSPITAL IN MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE AND HAD BEEN CANCER FREE FOR 6 YEARS UNTIL THE DISEASE RETURNED AND SHE WENT INTO HOSPICE IN JANUARY. SHE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY A YOUNGER SISTER, ALARY, AGE 5.

VISITATION WILL BE SATURDAY 12 NOON TILL 2 AT THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF BLACKSHEAR. HART FUNERAL HOME IS IN CHARGE OF ARRANGEMENTS.

IN HIS COMMENTS TO US, GARY THANKED THE PEOPLE OF UPSON COUNTY FOR THEIR PRAYERS AND CONCERNS FOR ARMIS. HE MENTIONED WHEN SHE WAS FIRST DIAGNOSED, THOMASTON RAISED OVER $7000 TOWARD HER TREATMENT IN JUST A FEW HOURS.
