PIKE COUNTY'S AMAZON, A VETERANS MEDICAL CLINIC

A PROJECT THAT COULD MEAN 350 TO 400 NEW JOBS. AMAZON FLIRTED WITH ATLANTA AND OTHER CITIES FOR ITS NEW HEADQUARTERS BUT CHOSE NORTHERN VIRGINIA AND NEW YORK FOR 50,000 NEW JOBS, THIS WEEK. THE STATE OF GEORGIA REPORTEDLY OFFERED AN INCENTIVE PACKAGE OF $2 BILLION TO LURE AMAZON.

DURING TWO PUBLIC HEARINGS WEDNESDAY , MEMBERS OF THE EDWARDS FAMILY GOT REZONING APPROVAL FOR TWO TRACTS OF 30 AND 16 ACRES SIDE-BY-SIDE FROM A-R TO P-I PROFESSIONAL AND ANOTHER PUBLIC HEARING IS SCHEDULED IN DECEMBER FOR A TRACT OWNED BY JERRY COLWELL AT U.S. 19 AND OLD ZEBULON ROAD, SOUTH OF ZEBULON.

PIKE COUNTY'S PLANNING AND ZONING DIRECTOR BRAD VAUGHN TOLD ZOOM NEWS AFTER THE MEETING , ALL THREE TRACTS FIT THE COUNTY'S OVERLAY PLAN FOR THE PROJECT THAT COULD OPEN IN 2021 OR 2022.
