UPDATE FROM UPSON EMA

UPSON EMA DIRECTOR MARTHA ANNE MCCARTY REPORTS ALMOST 5000 POWER OUTAGES IN THE CITY OF THOMASTON AND UPSON COUNTY AS OF 3PM.

NO INJURIES REPORTED BUT WINDS HAVE DONE A NUMBER ON TREES AND LIMBS THAT FELL ON POWER LINES AND ON STREETS AND ROADS.

EMA DIRECTOR MCCARTY IS CONCERNED AT ALL THE TRAFFIC ON THE ROAD—THEY NEED TO GO HOME—SHE TOLD ZOOM NEWS.

SHE REPORTED A LIMB DOWN IN THE 500 BLOCK OF SOUTH GREEN STREET THAT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. SHE PREDICTED THE WORST OF IRMA WILL CONTINUE IN THIS AREA UNTIL 8PM.

THOMASTON POLICE CHIEF MIKE RICHARDSON HAS BEEN ON THE ROAD SURVEYING DAMAGE. A BIG TREE UPROOTED ON OGLETHROPE WAY NEAR WEAVER PARK THAT MIGHT HAVE DAMAGED A CAR.

THE CHIEF URGED THE PUBLIC TO STAY INSIDE


A BIG PECAN TREE UPROOTED AT THE WOOD VALLEY APARTMENTS ON HANNAH'S MILL ROAD—THE BIG TREE WAS UPROOTED AND IT FELL OVER A PORTION OF THE ROOF.
