THOMASTON'S CITY CLERK, CFO IS RESIGNING

FOLLOWING AN EXECUTIVE SESSION TUESDAY—THE THOMASTON CITY COUNCIL ACCEPTED THE RESIGNATION OF CITY CLERK AND FINANCE OFFICER CLINT CHASTAIN— EFFECTIVE FEB 17TH---WHO IS REPORTEDLY TAKING A SIMILAR POSITION WITH HARRIS COUNTY GOVERNMENT.

IN OTHER ACTION THE COUNCIL APPOINTED GAIL HAMMOCK ASSISTANT CITY CLERK—TO HANDLE THOSE DUTIES AND AUTHORIZED CITY MANAGER RUSSELL THOMPSON TO BEGIN THE PROCESS TO HIRE AN INTERIM FINANCE OFFICER.

COUNCIL MEMBERS DON GREATHOUSE AND RYAN TUCKER TOLD ZOOM NEWS—WEDNESDAY--THE CITY CLERK/FINANCE OFFICER JOB IS TOO DEMANDING FOR ONE PERSON—THEY WANT TO SEPERATE THE POSITIONS—BUT IT WILL REQUIRE A CHANGE TO THE CITY CHARTER.
