On February 4, 2016 the Thomaston Police Department received the certification from the State of Georgia Department of Public Safety which would lawfully permit this department to utilize speed detection devices (RADAR Units) in the City limits of Thomaston. During this process this department updated the information with the State of Georgia related to the approved city streets and state routes that are permitted by the Department of Public Safety to use speed detection devices on. Effective on February 5, 2016 this department will start enforcing speeding violations and we encourage all citizens to please obey all speed limits within the city of Thomaston to ensure everyone’s safety while driving.
