Spalding and Lamar counties are now eligible for federal disaster assistance.
Individual assistance for homeowners and renters can include grants to help pay for temporary housing, home repairs and other serious disaster-related expenses not met by insurance or other assistance programs. Also low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration are available to cover residential and businesses losses not fully compensated by insurance.
Although not designated a federal disaster area, Meriwether county will also be eligible for assistance for debris removal and other emergency protective measures. The funds will be available to the local governments and other private non-profit organizations on a cost sharing basis.
Applications may be completed online or by phone. The phone lines will be open from 7 am to 10 pm daily. Apply by phone at 1-800-621-FEMA(3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired.
