STUDENTS WERE MOVED TO THE GYM AFTER IT WAS CLEARED AND THE BUILDINGS WERE SWEPT. BOTH ARE UNDER INVESTIGATION, THE SHERIFF TOLD WTGA NEWS.

MEANSVILLE MAN DIES IN HOUSE FIRE
PIKE COUNTY FIRE CHIEF RICK O’BARR TOLD WTGA NEWS, UNITS RESPONDED TO 693 ADAMS ROAD IN PIKE COUNTY SUNDAY EVENING, AND GLEN SCOTT SORRELL AGE 51, DIED OF SMOKE INHALATION. HE WAS ALONE IN THE RESIDENCE, OWNED BY PHILLIP SORRELL.
THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE IS UNDER INVESTIGATION BY THE STATE FIRE MARSHALL.

DRUG BUST AT DAVIS HILLS SUBDIVISION
THOMASTON POLICE , WEDNESDAY, ARRESTED TWO SUSPECTS, CATAVIA REVIERE, AGE 26 WHO LIVES AT 116 SHASTA DRIVE WITH HER MOTHER, AND REVIERE’S BOYFRIEND, ADRIAN GRANT AGE 23 OF ROBERTA AND CHARGED THEM WITH POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE MDMA AND MARIJUANA.
LT. ANDREW PIPPIN SAID POLICE WERE FOLLOWING-UP ON ANOTHER INVESTIGATION AND DETECTED THE ODOR OF MARIJUANA IN THE HOUSE.
A SEARCH WARRANT WAS EXECUTED AT THE RESIDENCE AND 8 BAGGIES OF MDMA WAS FOUND, A PURE FORM OF ECSTASY, AND 19 BAGGIES OF MARIJUANA.
BOTH WERE PLACED UNDER $100,000 BOND AT THE UPSON COUNTY JAIL.

JAKE EDWARDS, A 10 YEAR OLD 4TH GRADER AT UL NORTH ELEMENTARY, HIS FAMILY,AND AN ATLANTA ATTORNEY WHO VOLUNTEERED TO REPRESENT HIM ,ATTENDED A CLOSED DOOR SESSION OF UPSON JUVENILE COURT FRIDAY AFTERNOON, PRESIDED OVER BY GRIFFIN CIRCUIT JUVENILE JUDGE BEN MILLER JR.
WTGA NEWS WAS TOLD AN AGREEMENT WAS REACHED. BECAUSE JAKE, AN AUTISTIC CHILD, ADMITTED HIS CONDUCT, HE MUST WRITE LETTERS OF APOLOGY TO UPSON COUNTY PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICIALS AND THE THOMASTON-UPSON COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM. IF THERE ARE NO OTHER DELINQUENT ACTS BY THE STUDENT IN THE NEXT THREE MONTHS, THE CASE WILL BE COMPLETELY DISMISSED.
THE CASE GOT ATLANTA TV NEWS COVERAGE, AND HIS MOTHER KELLY HICKS TOLD FOX-5 NEWS, JAKE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN CHARGED.
A THOMASTON MAN WILL NOT BE BANISHED FROM UPSON COUNTY
DURING A MODIFICATION OF SENTENCE HEARING FRIDAY IN UPSON SUPERIOR COURT, JUDGE TOMMY HANKINSON ORDERED MIKEL WILSON, AGE 40 TO SERVE 400 HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE.
WILSON CONTENDED HE HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH DIABETES AND HE NEEDS TO STAY IN THOMASTON TO GET FAMILY CARE FOR HIS CONDITION. CHIEF JUDGE CHRIS EDWARDS SENTENCED WILSON TO PRISON PLUS BANISHMENT FROM THE GRIFFIN JUDICIAL CIRCUIT FOR 10 YEARS FOLLOWING HIS RELEASE.
WILSON, A CONVICTED CRACK COCAINE DEALER, WENT TO PRISON FOR A BURGLARY AT A THOMASTON PHYSICIAN’S HOME WHILE THE FAMILY WAS OUT OF THE COUNTRY. HE WAS RELEASED IN NOVEMBER.

UPSON COUPLE KILLED BY WRONG WAY DRIVER ON 19S. EARLY MONDAY
THE DECREASED IDENTIFIED AS TIMOTHY PATRICK LAMOTHE AGE 29, AND THE DRIVER OF THE FORD TAURUS , ALEKSAUNDRA NAOMI LAMOTHE , AGE 26 ,OF 439 MARTIN CHURCH ROAD.
THE MOTORIST WHO CAUSED THE HEAD-ON CRASH WAS IDENTIFIED WAS WILLIE A. WHITE OF HAMPTON, GA.,WHO WAS TREATED AT THE E.R. AT URMC AND TRANSFERRED TO THE MACON MEDICAL CENTER WITH NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES.
AUTHORITIES SAID WHITE WAS OBSERVED TRAVELING DOWN SOUTH CENTER STREET THE WRONG WAY AT 12;30AM MONDAY AND THOMASTON P.D. GAVE CHASE.
THE CRASH HAPPENED ON 19 SOUTH NEAR BIRDSONG ROAD. POST 26 GA. STATE PATROL IS INVESTIGATING AND DISPATCHED THE GSP SKIRT ACCIDENT INVESTIGATIONS TEAM.
