SHERIFF KILGORE-BURGLARY SUSPECT IN CUSTODY
UPSON COUNTY SHERIFF DAN KILGORE TOLD TGA NEWS LATE MONDAY, CHARGES OF 7 COUNTS OF BURGLARY AND ONE COUNT OF ATTEMPTED BURGLARY WILL BE LODGED TUESDAY AGAINEST DAVID EUGENE VAUGHN, 45 , WHO HAS BEEN STAYING AT A RESIDENCE ON GREEN FOREST ROAD.
SEVERAL CHURCHES AND BUSINESSES ON 36 EAST AND 74 EAST WERE BURGLARIZED OVERNIGHT THURSDAY. AN ATTEMPTED BURGLARY AT PHOENIX RISING SPECIAL EVENTS CENTER. THE BURGLAR WAS APPARENTLY LOOKING FOR CASH. $70 MISSING FROM ROCK HILL FIRE DEPARTMENT.
SHERIFF KILGORE SAID INVESTIGATORS HAD VAUGHN IN JAIL FRIDAY ON A PROBATION VIOLATION WITHIN HOURS OF THE BURGLARIES. HE SERVED TIME FOR AUTO THEFT AND BURGLARY IN UPSON COUNTY IN 2002 AND IS WANTED IN FLORIDA ON A PAROLE VIOLATION.

PETER THE ROCK CATHOLIC CHURCH, THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS, THE ROCK HILL VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT BUILDING, A RESIDENCE ACROSS 36 FROM THE FIRE STATION, THE OFFICES OF KEADLE LUMBER ENTERPRISES ON RAILROAD STREET, AND TLC, A BUSINESS BUILDING ON 36 AT THE NEW BUSINESS INDUSTRIAL PARK.
ANYONE WHO OBSERVED ANY SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY OVERNIGHT THURSDAY ON 74 EAST OR 36 EAST SHOULD CALL 911, ACCORDING TO SHERIFF KILGORE.

THOMASTON NATIVE KILLED IN PLANE CRASH NEAR AUGUSTA
ACCORDING TO LOCAL RELATIVES—HEIDI MCCORKLE, 28 ,A MEDICAL TECHNICIAN , WAS ONE OF 5 KILLED AFTER A SMALL JET OWNED BY BAIN MEDICAL LANDED AT THE MCDUFFIE COUNTY AIRPORT NEAR THOMSON, GA. WEDNESDAY NIGHT.
SHE IS SURVIVED BY AN 8 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER, AND THOMASTON RELATIVES, AN UNCLE—BUSINESSMAN PHIL PARROT AND GRANDPARENTS, BETTY PASLEY, AND MARCELL AND ANN PARROTT.
THE AIRCRAFT HAD JUST RETURNED FROM NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE. AUTHORITIES SAID THE PILOT AND ONE PASSENGER SURVIVED THE CRASH.

DURING A HEARING THURSDAY, ON A MOTION OF CONTEMPT FILED BY THE CITY OF THOMASTON AGAINEST LAST YEAR’S BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, SUPERIOR COURT JUDGE FLETCHER SAMS ASKED SEVERAL QUESTIONS, THEN TOLD THE COUNTY TO GET THOSE DOCUMENTS TO CITY HALL. AT ISSUE, THE 2008 END-OF- YEAR BUDGET REPORT.
OVER A YEAR AGO, CITY HALL FILED AN OPEN RECORDS REQUEST WITH THE COUNTY FOR FINANCIAL DATA FROM 1999 TO 2011, RELATED TO THE LOCAL OPTION SALES TAX REVENUE SPLIT.

SHERIFF DAN KILGORE WARNS THE PUBLIC OF A FEMALE WHO IS SELLING TASERS AND FLASHLIGHTS DOOR-TO-DOOR AND USING THE NAME OF THE UPSON COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT.
SHERIFF KILGORE SAYS HIS OFFICE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BUSINESS, AND NO ONE HAS BEEN AUTHORIZED TO USE THE NAME OF THE SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT IN ANY SUCH ENTERPRISE.

SEARCY,WYCHE SENT TO PRISON FOR ATTACK ON RETIRED P.D. SGT. AUBREY HALL
IN UPSON SUPERIOR COURT, MONDAY , CHIEF JUDGE CHRIS EDWARDS SENTENCED TERRELL OMAR SEARCY TO 35 YEARS, SERVE 25 ,FOR BURGLARY AND AGGREVATED BATTERY ON A PERSON OVER 65 YEARS OF AGE. WYCHE WAS SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS, SERVE 5 FOR BURGLARY.
ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEY BEN COKER SAID SEARCY SLUGGED THE RETIRED POLICE OFFICER IN THE FACE, FRACTURING HIS NOSE, WHEN SGT. HALL RETURNED FROM CHURCH AND FOUND THE TWO MEN IN HIS HOUSE, ABOUT A YEAR AGO. SEARCY AND WYCHE WERE ON THE COURT CALENDAR TO GO TO TRIAL, BUT THEY ENTERED GUILTY PLEAS.
ALL OTHER DEFENDANTS ON THE CALENDAR ENTERED PLEAS, SO COURT IS OVER FOR THIS WEEK.

OVER 100 CITIZENS ATTEND THURSDAY NIGHT TOWN HALL MEETING ON MIXED DRINK SALES BY UPSON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS.
CHAIRMAN RUSTY BLACKSTON TOLD THE CROWD THE BOARD WILL VOTE ON THE REFERENDUM ISSUE FEB. 26TH.
THE CROWD WAS OVERWHELMINGLY OPPOSED TO PUTTING MIXED DRINKS TO A VOTE, SEVERAL OFFERING PUBLIC COMMENT WERE LOCAL MINISTERS.
TWO NEW COMMISSIONERS ON THE BOARD, LORENZO WILDER AND RALPH ELLINGTON SAID THEY MADE PLEDGES DURING THEIR CAMPAIGNS TO CALL FOR A VOTE ON THE ISSUE. VETERAN COMMISSIONER STEVE HUDSON HAS BEEN TRYING TO GET MIXED DRINKS TO A VOTE FOR SEVERAL YEARS. CHAIRMAN RUSTY BLACKSTON AND COMMISSIONER FRANK SPRAGGINS VOICED OPPOSITION TO A REFERENDUM.

IN UPSON SUPERIOR COURT FRIDAY, JUDGE MACK CRAWFORD SET BOND AT $150,000 FOR TRAVIS LEROY BALL, 46 OF WARNER ROBINS. BALL A SUSPECT IN 4 TO 8 FIRES IN UPSON, AND OTHERS IN LAMAR AND MONROE COUNTY. BALL IS ALSO BANISHED TO HOUSTON COUNTY AND MUST WEAR AN ANKLE BRACELET FOR MONITORING.
HE WAS BEEN HOUSED IN THE UPSON COUNTY JAIL SINCE HE MADE BOND IN LAMAR COUNTY IN EARLY JANUARY AND THE BANISHMENT TO HOUSTON COUNTY AND THE ANKLE MONITOR WERE A CONDITION OF HIS BOND IN LAMAR COUNTY, TOO.
