ACCORDING TO A PRESS RELEASE, THOMASTON-UPSON SCHOOL SYSTEM AND UPSON COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT WILL OFFER FREE TUBERCULOSIS TESTING ON WED., SEPT. 19, FOR STUDENTS AND STAFF AT THE SCHOOL.
STUDENTS MUST HAVE CONSENT FORMS SIGNED BY PARENTS OR GUARDIANS IN ORDER TO RECEIVE THE SIMPLE TB SKIN TEST. HEALTH DEPART. OFFICIALS WILL RETURN FRIDAY, SEPT. 21ST WITH THE RESULTS AND IF A STUDENT TESTS POSITIVE, THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN WILL BE CONTACTED WITH INSTRUCTIONS FOR FURTHER TESTING BY THE UPSON COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT.
SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOUND OUT ABOUT THE SUSPECTED CASE LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND MET WITH DISTRICT 4 PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICIALS TO DEVISE A PLAN OF ACTION THAT WOULD ASSURE THE HEALTH AND WELL BEING OF EVERYONE INVOLVED, ACCORDING TO SCHOOL SYSTEM SPOKESPERSON, KAREN TRUESDALE. THE PRESS RELEASE SAYS TB CAN BE TREATED AND CURED, IF IDENTIFIED.
