COMMISSIONER SANDRA TRICE ENTERS GUILTY PLEA—MUST RESIGN AS CONVICTED FELON
DISTRICT ONE UPSON COUNTY COMMISSIONER SANDRA TRICE ENTERED A GUILTY PLEA FRIDAY IN UPSON SUPERIOR COURT AND WAS SENTENCED TO FINE, PROBATION AND COMMUNITY SERVICE BY JUDGE CHRIS EDWARDS.
AS PART OF THE AGREEMENT, ALL CHARGES WERE DROPPED AGAINST CO-DEFENDANT DEBRA JONES-PARKS. BOTH WERE SCHEDULED FOR JURY TRIAL MAY 3RD.
ACCORDING TO SPECIAL PROSECUTOR ALONZO WHITAKER OF COLUMBUS, COMMISSIONER TRICE ENTERED A GUILTY PLEA TO 6 COUNTS INVOLVING THE SALE OF PRE-NEED FUNERAL CONTRACTS , AND WAS SENTENCED TO 8 YEARS PROBATION, A $500 FINE, 80 HOURS COMMUNITY SERVICE, BUT NO RESTITUTION.
COMMISSIONER TRICE’S ATTORNEY WILLIAM MURRAY OF AMERICUS CALLED IT “ A NONSENSE PROSECUTION.”

PRESIDING JUDGE CHRIS EDWARDS WILL HEAR A MOTION IN THE CRIMINAL CASE INVOLVING DISTRICT ONE UPSON COUNTY COMMISSIONER SANDRA TRICE, FRIDAY, IN UPSON SUPERIOR COURT. COMMISSIONER TRICE AND CO-DEFENDANT DEBRA JONES-PARKS, SECRETARY AT TRICE FUNERAL HOME , ARE CHARGED WITH VIOLATIONS INVOLVING THE SALE OF PRE-NEED FUNERAL CONTRACTS.
THE TWO ARE SCHEDULED FOR A JURY TRIAL MAY 3RD AT THE UPSON COUNTY COURTHOUSE. COMMISSIONER TRICE RECENTLY INFORMED GOVERNOR NATHAN DEAL SHE IS STEPPING DOWN FROM HER COMMISSION POST UNTIL HER NAME IS CLEARED.

SHOOTING ON 3RD ST. UPDATE
BOND SET AT $25,000 FOR CASEY O’BRIEN ALEXANDER OF 250 MARCY DRIVE ON ONE COUNT OF AGGRAVATED ASSAULT. CHARGES ARE PENDING ON OTHERS.
THOMASTON POLICE SAID THE TWO VICTIMS ARE ANTHONY SMITH , WHO WAS SHOT IN THE BACK AND TRANSPORTED BY AIR AMBULANCE TO A MACON HOSPITAL—BUT HAS BEEN SINCE BEEN DISCHARGED, AND ANTHONY SCOTT WHO WAS SHOT IN THE LEG, TREATED AND RELEASED AT URMC.
THE INCIDENT IS APPARENTLY A SPILL-OVER FROM AN EARLIER INCIDENT IN LINCOLN PARK EASTER SUNDAY, AFTER TWO FEMALES GOT IN AN ALTERCATION, AND SHOTS WERE FIRED AND SOMEONE MIGHT HAVE BEEN STABBED. UPSON COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT IS INVESTIGATING THAT INCIDENT.

EASTER SUNDAY SHOOTING 3RD ST/AVE. G.
THOMASTON POLICE HAVE TWO SUSPECTS IN CUSTODY FOR QUESTIONING AFTER TWO OTHER BLACK MALES WERE SHOT SUNDAY AROUND 8PM.
ONE OF THE MEN WAS AIR FLIGHTED TO A MACON HOSPITAL WITH A GUNSHOT WOUND TO THE BACK, THE OTHER VICTIM WAS TREATED AND RELEASED AT URMC FOR A LEG WOUND.
