CHANGES TO EARLY VOTING TO LESSEN WAIT TIMES
UPSON COUNTY COMMISSION CHAIRMAN NORMAN ALLEN SAID HE WAS AMONG THE EARLY VOTERS AT THE CIVIC CENTER MONDAY, AND WAITED IN LINE FOR TWO HOURS TO CAST HIS BALLOT.
COUNTY MANAGER JASON TINSLEY TOLD THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS AT TUESDAY'S MEETING THE ELECTIONS STAFF AND POLL WORKERS ARE TO BE COMMENDED FOR THEIR DEDICATION IN DEALING WITH THE BIG TURNOUT- SOMETHING -THAT IS HAPPENING ALL OVER THE STATE. HE SAID THE WAIT WAS TRIMMED TO 45 MINUTES ON TUESDAY.
THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF ELECTIONS ROBERT HANEY TOLD 101 NEWS WEDNESDAY AT LUNCHTIME 1200 VOTES HAD BEEN CAST AT THE CIVIC CENTER THIS WEEK AND OFFICIALS ARE MAKING CHANGES TO LESSEN THE WAIT TIME.
AS OF THURSDAY -6 ADDITIONAL VOTING MACHINES WILL BE ADDED TO THE ORIGINAL 6 FOR A TOTAL OF 12 AND VOTING IS MOVING INTO THE GYM. THE WAIT HAD BEEN REDUCED TO 30 MINUTES ON WEDNESDAY--HE TOLD US.
